FAQ

Q: What geographical areas do you cover?
A: Garrards Transport is based at Harlington, which is five minutes from Heathrow Airport, but we cover all parts of the United Kingdom, Ireland and Europe.

Q: What vehicles do you have in your fleet?
A: Our range consists of courier-division small vans and high-top panel vans with tail lift, through to specialist air-ride tail lift vehicles ranging from 7.5 tonnes to 26 tonnes – all equipped with internal load-locking devices and high-specification tail lifts.

A: Garrards Transport normally has sufficient capability to cope with urgent, same-day work. However, it is best to call to check availability.

Q: Can you cope with awkward sites/large heavy equipment?
A: We have over thirty years of experience in developing leading edge solutions to customers’ business demands that can be adapted to specific needs. No job is too difficult for us. We can organise cranes; scaffolding; window, door or staircase removals; liaison with local authorities for road closures; and special permissions needed for industry-specific jobs. We provide site surveying and planning for complex heavy machinery/complex moves.

Q: Do you transport Fine Art?
A: Moving irreplaceable works of art demands exceptional care and skill. Our crew are all extremely experienced and knowledgeable regarding the movement and transportation of delicate Fine Art.

Q: Is the service you provide expensive?
A: We are competitive. We strive to offer a seamless service at a cost-efficient price.

While it is unwise to pay too much, it is also unwise to pay too little. If you deal with the lowest bidder, you run the risk of it costing you a lot more to put right the damage to your goods that could result from using an inferior carrier company.

We have often been called on at short notice to rectify these disasters. One such job involved righting a mainframe computer that had fallen onto someone who had tried to move it with the wrong kind of equipment. The computer had partly fallen though the floor, breaking the person’s leg and trapping him under it. Luckily, he lived to tell the tale!

Q: Are you insured?
A: Yes, all of our business is undertaken in accordance with the Road Haulage Association (RHA) conditions of carriage (2008), and all the goods we store are done so under RHA conditions of storage (1998).

All of our vehicles are fully insured, and Garrards Transport Ltd has employee liability and public liability insurance.

All goods are insured in accordance with the RHA conditions of carriage (2008) – a copy of which can be provided upon request or see below.

Extra insurance, such as all risks cover, can be provided through our insurance broker upon request.

Q: Can you do office moves?
A: Yes, we do these can be arranged through one of our associate companies.
We know that moving office is a stressful time for our customers, so we can provide a helpful checklist to ensure nothing gets forgotten. We find this is the easiest way to make sure that everything is done on time and under budget, as well as being essential to keeping your office move project on track.
